If you need housing … and are on SSI or Public Assistance:

  • Supportive housing: If you have a verifiable medical need you may be eligible  – this is a 20 page list of housing  CLICK HERE

  • HPD housing lottery (usually for people with jobs): This affordable housing list is updated several times per month.  To apply, you must register first.  After registration, to apply for different buildings, you simply click on boxes on the computer screen.  CLICK HERE

If you need housing … and have a job and can verify your income:

  • Mitchell Lama middle income housing: Income guidelines and rents are sometimes lower than middle income level.  This link will show you a list that includes housing with short waiting lists.    CLICK HERE

  • Mutual Housing of NY: Often has very affordable apartments CLICK HERE
